As a teacher in a university, I paid a great deal of attention to helping my students learn how to write English academic prose. And as an academic author, I was highly attuned to my own writing while constructing articles and chapters for publication in academic venues.
Combining those perspective allows me to offer effective, sympathetic and client-focussed coaching for academic writing, specifically aimed at scholars for whom English is not their first language.
Coaching sessions are tailored to the client's particular needs, but will generally involve between five and eight sessions of one-to-one tutoring. All packages include close-reading and editing of at least two of your writing samples. I am also happy to help with preparation for live presentations, including working on pronunciation, dialect and presentation aides.

- Constructing your arguments, including signposting premises, and understanding subpremises and

- Simplifying your prose for clearest effect.
- The use of analogy, metaphor, imagery and quotation to enliven your writing.
- Editing techniques that will elevate your work while simplifying the writing process.
- References, footnotes, diagrams and tables.
- Preparing your work for journal submission and publication.
- Presenting your work: breaking free of the written word.
